The Arts Council welcomes 188 further Primary and Post Primary schools from every region of Ireland that are joining the Creative Schools programme this autumn, including 44 Deis schools, three Youthreach centres, 11 Special Schools and 17 Irish Language Medium Schools.
These schools will participate in a guided journey to develop and begin to implement a Creative Schools Plan unique to their own school. The voice of children and young people will be central to this process, which will also involve teachers and the whole school community. Each school will be supported by a designated Creative Associate, and provided with a grant of €4,000 towards activities over a two-year period.
The Creative Schools 2021 schools/centres are listed here.
For examples of activities carried out by 2018, 2019 and 2020 schools/centres, see the online broadcasts from Creative Schools Week May 2021, available to view here.
Creative Schools is an initiative within the Creative Youth pillar of the Creative Ireland programme. It is led by the Arts Council in partnership with the Department of Education, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht Sport & Media and the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth.
