A European Union / South African (EU - SA) delegation of arts professionals connected with community arts centres in South Africa, France and Flanders will visit Ireland in May 2018.
The study visit is part of the Shukuma Mzansi (meaning, Shake Up the South!) International Community Arts Centres Dialogue Project, initiated by the Department Arts and Culture in South Africa and Sibikwa Arts Centre, in Johannesburg. This is the second phase of the project which began in 2017. The study visit is being hosted by Tallaght Community Arts Centre, in association with Rua Red, the Civic Theatre and the Arts Council of Ireland.
The purpose of the Shukuma Mzansi! is to facilitate the international exploration and exchange of learning and ideas, between South African, Irish, Flemish and French community arts centres, community arts practice and community engagement, inclusive programming, youth arts, policy and partnership.
The goal of the Shukuma Mzansi! Community Arts Centres Dialogue Project is to produce recommendations and a framework for a national policy relating to Community Arts Centres and programming in South Africa.
This programme has been devised by the Arts Council of Ireland in partnership with Tallaght Community Arts and Sibikwa Arts Centre and we would like to thank all partners and contributors for their enthusiasm in participating in this dialogue and welcoming our international guests.
