In the Open/FAOIN SPÉIR is a new initiative created by the Arts Council to continue to encourage public engagement with the arts in the outdoors as we gradually emerge from the pandemic.

SAVE THE DATE: The Arts Council and Local Government Ireland will present their third biennial conference on 24 and 25 March 2022 in VISUAL Carlow.

With an overarching theme to explore our common purpose in creatively addressing the future challenges of people and places; the conference will investigate the role of artists, arts and culture in challenging place based topics such as planning, social cohesion, climate and environment.

The Arts Council has a long-standing partnership with a number of Irish universities offering Writer-in-Residence/Fellowship positions to provide university students of Creative Writing MA and MFA programmes with an opportunity to work with and learn from a professional author of distinction, and to enable writers to develop their work while in a position of relative financial stability. 

The Arts Council announces the second of two rounds of the Festivals Investment Scheme (FIS) for festivals taking place between July and December 2022.

The Arts Council’s role is to advocate for a diverse and varied arts festival ecology and to provide a chain of funding supports that encourage: models of national and international significance and best practice, models that increase opportunities for public engagement or develop the work of an artist/artform, festival programmes engaged with, and relevant to the local community.

The Arts Council and University College Cork invite applications from film artists of distinction for the role of Film Artist in Residence at UCC for the calendar year 2022.

The Arts Council’s strategy recognises the distinctive role of amateur arts practice, its important contribution to the vitality of the arts in Ireland, including music, theatre and musical theatre, and its many personal, social and artistic benefits.

This pilot scheme is offered as a once-off, action-research opportunity, and seeks enhanced engagement, mentorship and advocacy between the amateur and professional theatre, music and musical-theatre sectors.

The Arts Council welcomes 188 further Primary and Post Primary schools from every region of Ireland that are joining the Creative Schools programme this autumn, including 44 Deis schools, three Youthreach centres, 11 Special Schools and 17 Irish Language Medium Schools.

PhD students or post-doctoral scholars are invited to apply for the Fulbright-Creative Ireland Museum Fellowship to complete short-term research at the Exploratorium, San Francisco. The mission of this internationally renowned museum is to create a culture of learning through innovative environments, programs and tools that help people nurture their curiosity about the world.

Professionals with at least seven years’ experience working in the creative, cultural or heritage sector are invited to apply for the 2021-2022 Fulbright-Creative Ireland Professional Fellowship.

Candidates can select their preferred U.S. host institution and must have the capacity to spend a minimum of three months and maximum of six months in the USA. Preference will be given to those who do not already have extensive experience in the U.S.
