Upcoming Laureate for Irish Fiction events
Translating Anne Enright
The Royal Irish Academy, in association with the Arts Council and the Laureate for Irish Fiction, presents Translating Anne Enright.
To mark the European Day of Languages and International Translation Day 2016, Anne Enright will be in conversation with four translators of her work: Sergio Claudio Perroni (Italy), Hans-Christian Oeser (Germany), Isabelle Reinharez (France) and María Porras Sánchez (Spain).
The discussion will focus on issues such as cultural transfer, Irishness, untranslatable texts, markets and audiences. There will also be readings from selected passages of Enright’s works.
This discussion will be chaired by Anne O’Connor, Department of Italian, NUI Galway, and member of the Royal Irish Academy’s Study of Languages, Literature, Culture and Communication Committee.
The discussion will be followed by a reception at 6:45pm

Annual lecture: An Irishwoman Abroad: Maeve Brennan Goes Mad in New York
Laureate for Irish Fiction Anne Enright will deliver her annual lecture this October in Limerick and Belfast. An Irishwoman Abroad: Maeve Brennan Goes Mad in New York was first presented at New York University as part of Anne’s residency there and later featured as an introduction to a new edition of The Springs of Affection, published by The Stinging Fly Press.
