The key priorities in Making Great Art Work: Leading the Development of the Arts in Ireland are artists and public engagement with the arts. In line with this the following mission statement for the Arts Council Collection has been adopted:

The Arts Council’s collection supports artists’ and public engagement with the arts. It does this by purchasing excellent contemporary work to be enjoyed and valued through display and programmes delivered directly and with partners. Through the collection, the Arts Council also acts as a custodian and carer of great art on behalf of the people of Ireland.

Over the coming years, the Arts Council will be further developing its programme to facilitate increased access and engagement with its Collection. The following exhibitions opening over the coming months will contain works from the Arts Council Collection:

• elevate  Luan Gallery Athlone, 1 June - 29 July.
• Agragian Landscape & Sustenance Visual Carlow, 6 June - 3 September.
