Laureate for Irish Fiction Sebastian Barry and Laureate na nÓg Sarah Crossan join Alex Clark for a special event at the West Cork Literary Festival.

Free Market, the Irish National Pavilion at the 16th International Architecture Exhibition La Bienale di Venezia 2018 won widespread acclaim for its exploration of the unique identity of Irish rural towns when it showed in Venice in 2018. Now this ambitious exhibition will travel to four towns in Ireland.

As part of the Arts Council’s commitment to supporting writers at all stages of their careers, a number of university writer residencies have been established across the country.

Three of the Arts Council’s university residencies are now accepting applications:

1. Writer’s Fellowship, Trinity College Dublin
2. Creative Writing Fellow, University College Dublin
3. Writer in Residence, NUI Galway

The Review of Venues and Arts Centres is published this month and is now available on-line in the publications section of the Arts Council’s website.

As outlined in our 3 year plan, we have adopted a new Arts Centres Policy and Strategy 2019 which will inform applications for funding for 2020

Three information sessions have been organised to give further information on application for funding for arts centres in 2020. Application forms and guidelines will be available from early in August and the deadline for applications will be 19^th September 2019.

Applications are invited from Irish writers of established reputation for the position of Creative Writing Fellow which is jointly funded by the Arts Council and the School of English, Drama, and Film.

The Arts Council's Project awards support specific project activities under each of the above artform/arts practice areas. The award guidelines for each award can be downloaded from the available funding section of the Arts Council's website from mid-June.

The Arts Council announces an Open Call to the artists and arts organisations of Ireland to create collaborative ground breaking projects of ambition, impact and scale that encourage discourse, provocation or response to place and identity as part of contemporary Ireland

Open Call is a programme for artists and arts organisations to develop and shift their practice and profile work on a national scale, creating high profile arts central to people’s lives.

Beyond Borders stimulates and strengthens cross-border collaborations between music creators, performers and presenters. It supports the creation, touring and promotion of innovative and high-quality new music across all genres and encourages engagement with audiences across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland through multiple performances and digital activity.

West Cork Arts Centre offers Artist in Residence studio opportunities to practicing artists. Artists are invited to apply for an opportunity to research and develop their practices and to engage in dialogue with Uillinn, other organisations in Cork, the local community and general public.

South Dublin County Council (SDCC) is now inviting applications for the position of Music Generation Development Officer

A Music Generation Development Officer will be appointed by SDCC and will be responsible for managing an extensive performance music education programme on behalf of South Dublin Local Music Education Partnership.

Submissions for the Fishamble New Writing Award are now open. To qualify for this award, an applicant’s work must be a new play showing as part of Dublin Fringe Festival 2019. Applicants must submit an electronic copy of their script to info@fishamble.com, along with their show's performance details, by Monday 6th of August. 

The Irish Chamber Orchestra introduces an exciting Autumn/Winter Season, presenting a rich body of diverse works and international soloists.  As always, the ICO take audiences on an immersive journey, traversing centuries of masterworks and new music that ignites the senses. Jörg Widmann (Principal Guest Conductor/Artistic Partner) and the ICO are renowned for their compelling performances and artistic individualism and this season just oozes diversity.

Music Network (MN) and The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) are offering an opportunity for a professional sound or visual artist to create an installation work, using as its inspiration the historically significant harp tunes collected in 1792 by Edward Bunting.
