A partnership between The Arts Council/An Chomhlairle Ealaíon & MA Festive Arts (University of Limerick)
The Arts Council outlines in its three year plan 2020-22 an action to develop a new environmental and sustainability policy. In line with this commitment the Change Makers festival conference launches its ‘greener conference actions’ which includes reducing, reusing and recycling materials, utilising local vendors to reduce environmental impacts and a call to action for delegates to use public transport/car pool. Creative solutions will be found in achieving these actions, including the production of digital conference programmes and reducing conference materials. With that aim in mind we are asking delegates to bring their own lanyards and ‘totes' in order to reuse and repurpose these materials for the day in Limerick.
The Change Makers conference will take place on Friday 14th February 2020 between 10am-5pm at the World Academy, University of Limerick, in partnership with the MA Festive Arts. The conference will be the first of its kind to call on the arts festival sector and stakeholders to gather to discuss the impact and value of festival projects but also to establish the coordinates for actions to sustain and enhance festivals in Ireland.
The day will include: a keynote address by festival maker, Jude Kelly CBE, Founder of the Women of the World festival (WOW) and former director of the Southbank Centre London, panel discussion on the transformative power of festivals, toolkit sessions for festivals on areas of festival practice along with pop up clinics and a networking lunch.
The conference will provide a unique and valuable opportunity for arts festivals to come together to learn from each other and share skills and knowledge.
